In a highland region of Turkey, there is a girl named Suna who lives with her mother. Suna’s mother has greater expectations for her daughter and forces her to do trainer Suna’s uncle who is also the village’s headman offers to help pay off makings debt and Islets in touch with a construction company that wants to start diffing but the builders Tarkabo Idseltmas the construction site and they are reluctant working with the locals. the man whom she married was forayed into the marriage and was hung also happened to be on the sordid side, and it keeps on eluding him only for it to be dispersed at the outskirts of the village.

Mako’s father is an ineffective liquor addict and the young man finds solace in rapping. Filiz is a twelve-year-old who creates YouTube content yet is not convinced her channel is receiving enough attention owing to the fact there is nothing noteworthy that happens in the village. Despite this, the abrupt arrival of a young imam is an exception since other factors are quite eccentric. Since his arrival, however, a young girl was discovered dead in the river; there’s arguments over the ownership of the stone quarry; there are treasure seekers, and very quickly a body is eventually discovered with stones in its mouth.

Reha Erdem’s film hinges on two interwoven plots. The rural life is captured with a flair of exaggeration and mimesis, while the other plot introduces modern civilization while anchoring to the local theme. With respect to the first point, it is increasingly clear that the people living in such a place are highly distrustful of each other as well as fiercely gossiping, just like their patriarchy related fears of anything that is non-conventional, and at times, bordering on the absurd. One of the most illuminating points made here is that many of them wish to “if they can’t a ‘live their dream’, they simply try to impose such on their children from time to time,’ which is particularly well captured in Suna’s portrayal of her mother. Erdem, however, brings a new angle in this case, for the girl is not particularly keen to go away, but she wishes to be someone very different from what her mother envisions her to be.

Similar to all the other elements of violence and terrorism in the already presented collage, the sentiments that the eloper who is depicted as an insatiable rapist and whose main goal is to access and procreation with other nations, holds about these other nations is a commentary on a different layer of patriarchy, or why the urge to never go back home develops. Filiz wanting to be a YouTuber, Mako’s singing and rapping and the ‘eloper’ abandoning in a look for some different matrix all go together with the way because each of them sees their parents or the husband as an obstacle but also the reason for them to want to be out. The subjugation of all aforementioned paradigms has one common trait they undermine the craftsmanship.

But Erdem is not as innocuous in what he serves up as he seems to be. It is entertaining to observe the Imam especially with his spouting of pearls of wisdom, his rather quirky nature which I think was beautifully borne by Ahmet Rifat Şungar. The combination of deadpan and a sort of mocking/ironic tone in Erderm frequently has the music in this film doing almost exactly what has been described to us other times in this amalgam, Erdogan cut off and then leave all on the same journey. The film adding whodunit in the mix serves something to spice things up a wee bit, although it is a more of an antithesis in the sequence of things in the film.

Suna, as portrayed by Deniz Ilhan, is the main highlight of the movie due to her perpetual running and her discontent with her life along with her indecisiveness regarding her goals in life. The last statement she makes to her mother, as well as her resultant gesture, together more eloquently than anything else she makes this point.

The Photographic Florent harry showcases the dim surrounding landscape effectively. The landscape is depicted with depth while still remembering to appreciate the glimmers of nature in the corner. Erdem’s cutting ensures a seamless flow as well in this case, the music ‘trick’ provides the expected pace while the cuts also surface the comedy around it.

Neandria” is a good movie. It is entertaining and interesting providing a glimpse into Erden’s capacity as a filmmaker.
