One of the individuals who has played a significant role in Pixar since their debut feature film, Toy Story (1995) is Pete Docter, as he was amongst its scriptwriters. He started directing with Monsters Inc., which received positive reviews and then Up. Inside Out is his third feature while Soul of 2020 is his latest work. Just after going through a few things about him and seeing his work I can tell that he really thinks personally about many things. Inspired by observing his daughter internalize emotions as she hit puberty Docter wished to know what she was thinking. They worked closely with psychologists who helped them to bring in anthropomorphized human psyche based on science truthfully into their movie product.

Riley Anderson’s parents have relocated her to the big city, a situation which has caused her lots of dissonance and clashes within. She’s under the influence of five emotions: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Anger. These five actions seek to create Riley with memories in the form of orbs that will guide her. The course of time has transformed Riley into five different islands that represent things she values most such as family or friendship or being silly. Sadness begins by mistake when it turns previously happy into sad memories bringing tears on the young girl’s face. In this moment of conflict, core memories which drive all Riley’s personality are lost hence leaving Joy and sadness with no option but to work against time so as to save their little girl who means so much for them.

Inside Out is an amazing kids’ movie which introduces children to the idea of our souls and having all emotions in one person. I love how many parents have had such positive experiences watching this film and its sequel with their children. I hope it has led to some productive conversations about their inner lives.

Inside Out is another product of capitalism in the U.S., with its sound provided by some people who are now supporting some very bad idea. Art and artists are two different things, according to many people. This perspective seems hilariously simplistic about art to me; consequently, if your agenda is to read a review that overrates this movie, then I am sorry but you are on the wrong page. Luckily, there definitely are several reviews of Inside Out which do praise it excessively. Alright then, we say goodbye and welcome back to those who have remained

Before delving into the political side of my review, I must point out that this film dangerously oversimplifies the human mind. There is no free will anywhere here. Riley comes off as a robot driven by emotions. When we look inside her parents’ minds, it’s pretty much the same thing. Nevertheless, we need to acknowledge that this is children’s film and things have been simplified for their sake. However, I see it as unhealthy to tell kids that what they do has nothing to do with their choices or how they respond to external factors.

In my opinion, the metaphor needed more work on it and I don’t think it was necessary for the filmmakers to worry about whether or not little kids would get it either way. From 14 years of teaching experience in an elementary school setting, I realized that children could understand complicated topics if these were well explained. This also makes the five emotions flat and unimaginative without making any surprising choices or having exciting storylines. All they can do is be each of them as described above. Consequently, Riley never actually becomes a whole person in our eyes; she is just there so that other actors may voice her emotions as characters in themselves.

Thing is, that’s how all the Pixar movies roll. They begin with good and smart ideas then get turned into a set of formulaic drivel that yes, beats Dreamworks animation by a small margin.

What shocks me more are the number of adults who relate with this movie. I think if you were a kid when it came out and now in your late teens, early twenties then I can see how it became a favorite. The most baffling thing for me is that there are adults who are being estimated at grown-ass status but they have made this film their life. When talking about Disney Adults, we’re looking at a segment of two or three generations reared so emotionally immaturely that they can’t handle media or art of any kind except in its most simplified, corporately sanitized forms. There’s much better and adult-focused art about our emotions and how we feel them than this candy-colored flick.

It’s alarming how much children media adults are still consuming without watching anything else. Or that so much of the media being made “for adults” in the US operates on the intellectual level of a middle schooler. It is really good to be in touch with your emotions but movies like these will not lead you there if you’re 30 years old already. By now, one should understand them much better and more deeply than this though. This was not an accident either!

In absence of deep thought about self and the world, our institutions find it easier to manipulate and control us.

The Inside Out movie shows that we are all special since each of us has a world full of emotions and thoughts. That’s why Inside Out is a movie about an eleven year old Palestinian girl if it was from her perspective. What do you think her core memories would look like? I am sure that her joy would be as vibrant and energetic, but I wonder whether she feels sadness and fear the same way.

How great would it have been if Pixar made just a short film showing things from that standpoint? A 15-minute video showcasing the world of Inside Out through another’s eyes. It will never happen though simply because, at the end of the day, they both belong to those who profess such like for capitalistic media alliance seeing only individuality and humanness in the kids of societies whose adults sacrifice their lives & laboring for imperialism. These business owners don’t see any humanity in children whose societies we flatten and obliterate.

Amy Poehler, who played Joy in the animated film, was a guest on Seth Meyers’ late-night program to help promote an appearance by Joe Biden. At this same time, mass protests were taking place in Rockefeller Center against American support for Israel’s genocidal acts towards the Palestinians. One of those detained was transgender actress Hunter Schaefer; Poehler was meanwhile busy flattering Biden and making it clear that she is a supporter of American imperialism.

Mindy Kaling, who voiced Disgust, has been a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party and spoke at DNC 2024 to advocate for the party. Meanwhile this does not prevent the party from going along with Republicans in supporting genocide.

Richard Kind (the voice of Bing Bong) has joined other Hollywood actors like Mark Ruffalo demanding: “Save our hostages” leaving aside thousands already dead Palestinian lives which are more than 100000 now. And what about those people’s inner worlds? Do these people have any idea how many innocent people around the world die due to US bullets? Or is it only true for some good-looking white kids living in America?

I think Inside Out is all about that sentiment.

Its creators do not. This they achieve by stripping Palestinian children of their humanity through their words and actions. If you’re someone who’s foolish enough to think that millionaires need protecting from some person just posting on his personal blog, let me save you some time. I will read your crazy post long enough to see what you are doing and then delete it without approving the post. Thus, your words shall go straight into the void. You would much better spend your time bending over, inserting your head up your ass, and screaming into that hole.
