The rise in temperature might be responsible, but the dynamic duo Mike (Will Smith) and Marcus (Martin Lawrence) never cease to amaze. What began as a typical action cop film turned into a series where the protagonists invaded Cuba and ended up battling a witch. Fans of the series have been fortunate enough to not wait too long for the next installment as the third part of the indefinitely interesting series was released recently. Bad Boys: Ride Or Die has already stood out amongst its predecessors with its impressive character lines. After he suffers a heart attack, Marcus is seen to embark on a hallucinate journey where he encounters a magical parrot and a spirit force version of Joey Pants. Now, previously Joe Pantoliano’s Captain Howard was quite opposite to tranquil, he often threw about some mean comments like “I’ve got so much brass up my ass that I can play ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’.” However, in this film he served as a peaceful spirit aiding the main characters with his image. What do you want to hear? It’s complicated…

Poor Brad Pitt must feel nervous when saying that this is not a work of art instead this film radiates confidence, especially after having made $427 million in sales. The girls Adil and Bilall must surely believe otherwise and have given their all to make sure that we believe otherwise too.

The view from the punchy pistols, the slow motion CG jellybeans, the broody but beautiful fusion of Dade County’s time-lapsed clouds with a spectacular albino alligator and more could verily be the highlight of a superhero tropical vacation. With respect to all of this, the closest counterpart for Detroit is the cinematic adventure series (not unlike The Rock and Jason Statham!). A huge cast assembled (there are plenty of returning supporting Good boys 3 stars), and a lot of chatter about “the family” theme, Mike and Marcus seem to be recruited into The family together with the new joined hero that had previously butchered several protagonists in the former movie.

Even though there are several supporting players who have memorable roles the most enjoyable vocal performance belongs to Dennis Mcdonald who has a video game based Marine as his role. One of the most entertaining elements in this set is the charisma of Mike and Marcus, these two can literally switch characters like how Laurel and Hardy did in A Chump At Oxford. While a marriage transforms Mike from a husband styled cool man to a man who panics and worries, Marcus is totally different, forever worrying this time, he despite almost suffering a near death experience, rebounds back without a worry in his head. Bad Boys is the second film from the franchise which has the iconic line Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, motherfucker being spoken. Martin Lawrence does an amazing role in the film and is one of the reason such scenes gain so much laughter. This was also seen in one of the films Dick Van Dyke made in 1968 themed based on comical actors. Many might be disappointed with Will Smith, Michael gets more praise, however a meta joke about the Oscars same could be nothing less than a very dull end. But it’s clear from their performance’s dynamics when the movie bothers to let the audience enjoy it that the two stars who are close friends in real life shine through.

The idea of Bad Boys: Ride Or Die being unencumbered and less cluttered raises hope. Picking up a too weak motivation for saving a character that largely did little more than yell at them, both protagonists get scattered about, at one point even into the bayou for some The Fugitive-inspired episode. Most of the female characters barely get any screen time (though Rhea Seehorn does make a cameo and is given some nice tac gear), and the ‘surprise’ antagonist is just roll their eyes as their scripts are handed to them. However, these will be nitpicks for many. The Bad Boys are back. The vibe is still there. It’s safe to assume another ride is coming up next.
